"Accomplishments in resource development and the budget are just two areas of many successes this year, of which we should all be proud..."
- Sen. Therriault
Dear Colleagues and Staff:
We came to Juneau this session with a public expectation that we as a Legislature would be able to work with the new administration to start addressing the fiscal situations facing Alaska - we met those expectations.
We made great strides moving this government back into the mindset of being a resources state this year and I believe that we will see the fruits of our labor blooming in the near future.
I appreciate the extensive effort put in by members and staff, and for the creation of the capital and operating budgets. This is evidenced by the fact that we approved a responsible budget that addresses the needs of the people of Alaska, while reducing the size and cost of government.
Accomplishments in resource development and the budget are just two areas of many successes this year, of which we should all be proud. As you head back to your districts, I hope you use this book to share with your constituents the work we put forth in Juneau this year.
Again, I would like to thank my colleagues and their staff for a very successful first session of the Twenty-Third Alaska State Senate.
