The House Special Committee on Education will hear HB 228 Pupil-Teacher Ratio Grades K-3 on Tuesday, April 18th.
There will also be "The Whole Village Project" presentation by Alyeska WorldWide(AWW). The intent of the program is to ensure Alaskan Native youth achieve educational success by integrating K-12 on-line instruction and required standards to include entrepreneurship, e-commerce, culture and community internet empowerment strategies. Alyeska Worldwide is founded on the belief that there is a reciprocal relationship between successful school and successful community. Parents, students, community and industry leaders will play an integral part in helping students to successfully compete in the global entrepreneurial marketplace. Creating cultural and economic sustainability in Alaska native villages is essential.
The objectives of the program are to provide services to rural Alaskan students; provide portability to a child's education; provide K-12 academic support by highly qualified teachers; meet or exceed No Child Left Behind legislation; and to provide every student an Individualized Learning Plan.
