This bill passed out of the House Special Committee on Fisheries yesterday and is awaiting a committee substitute to take care of a few typos. This piece of legislation does not impact Kodiak, as it is addressing Region II (Interior Spruce/Hardwood, South of the Alaska Range-Palmer, Anchorage & Soldotna) The bill incorporates recommendations made after a scientific review. FYI, Region I (Coastal Sitka Spruce/Hemlock-Kodiak, Haines, Juneau & Ketchikan) riparian standards were updated in 1999. The next committee of referral is House Resources.
The House Special Committee on Fisheries has scheduled a hearing on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 from 8:30 a.m.-10 a.m. Representative LeDoux is a co-sponsor of this bill. To access the full text version of this bill, click on the link below.
