Minerals are the major export from the NWT, accounting for over 2/3 of the total. However, both renewable and forestry exports combined make up less than 1% of the total. Within the “Other” category of the NWT, transportation services make up the largest component. This would include pipeline, rail, air and marine value added charges to NWT exports. Tourism is also included within the “Other” category. Manufacturing is also growing in importance as is retail exports. Other components include – “Finance, Insurance, Real Estate (WCB) 19.8 million”; Manufactured 4.5 million; Services 14.1 million; Retailing 26.3 million; Transportation 148.6 million; Wholesaling 10.6 million.
