Per capita income measures total regional income over total regional population. Thus it is a good measure of overall prosperity. Here the State of Alaska really excels. When converted to Canadian dollars, its per capita income is 70% larger than the NWT’s and twice that of the Yukon. Not only does Alaska have a large population, but a relatively wealthy population.
