Legislative Salmon Industry Task Force Seeks Input

(ANCHORAGE) - Seeking input from industry participants and the general public, the Joint Legislative Salmon Industry Task Force is holding public hearings across the state October 11-12 and 22, as well as November 1.

Established by the Legislature earlier this year, the Task Force's main goal is to look into possible improvements to state statutes and state policy, under which the salmon industry operates. Now with the mission defined and sub-committees in place the Task Force is turning to the public for their ideas, comments and suggestions.

"We encourage input from all sectors of the industry and general public on the issues before the committee," said Sen. Ben Stevens (R-Anchorage), Chairman of the task force.

The Task Force is requesting that anyone who presents testimony at one of the public hearings also submit that testimony in writing to the Task Force. Anyone unable to participate in the hearing may submit written comments to the Legislative Salmon Industry Task Force directly at:

Written comments will be accepted until the end of November.
