Alaska Lawmakers Go Back To School
(ANCHORAGE) - Members of Alaska's Senate majority are taking part in "America's Legislators Back to School Week", September 16-20. More than 2,500 state legislators from across the country are expected to participate in the third annual event sponsored by the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL). "I welcome this opportunity to sit with the children of our community and share with them what it is we do in the legislature," said Sen. Dave Donley (R-Anchorage), one of several Senate majority members participating in this year's "Back to School" program. "It is like a real life civics lesson." Senate majority members hope the visits will not only help educate on how the legislative process works, but also to teach young people the importance of public service, debate and compromise. Members of the media wishing to accompany a majority legislator on a school visit should contact the Senate majority press office to make arrangements. # # # Attachments:
