Senate Passes Operating Budget
(JUNEAU) - The Senate Finance Committee passed the fiscal year 2002 operating budget today, providing significantly increased funding for Alaskan's top priorities, including education and public safety. The budget is contained in two bills. House Bill 103 passed with a vote of 11-9, and House Bill 104 passed with a vote of 12-8. The bills now return to the House for consideration of Senate changes. Sen. Dave Donley (R-Anchorage), chair of the Senate Finance Committee, spoke from the floor in support of funding levels in the operating budget. He also outlined the positive accomplishments resulting from the successful completion last year of the Republican-led Majority's Five Year Plan. Sen. Donley's excerpts are available on the Majority Actuality Line, 800-478-6540. # # # Attachments:
