Stevens to Chair Labor and Commerce - Phillips to Chair Rules
(JUNEAU) - In one of the Senate's first orders of business today, Senate President Rick Halford, (R-Chugiak) announced new committee assignments for seats left vacant by the departure of former Sen. Drue Pearce. The announcements were made following approval by the Senate's Committee on Committees. Sen. Ben Stevens (R-Anchorage), who was appointed to replace Pearce, will serve on the Resources Committee and the State Affairs Committee. He will also serve as chair of the Senate Labor and Commerce Committee.
Sen. Randy Phillips (R-Eagle River) will replace Pearce as chair of the Rules Committee. In other changes in the organization, Sen. Halford will sit as a member of the Rules committee, while Sen. Gary Wilken (R-Fairbanks) will replace Sen. Pete Kelly (R-Fairbanks) on the Resources Committee, where he will serve as vice-chair. # # # Attachments:
