Rep. Masek Escapes Injury in Accident
(Wasilla) - Rep. Beverly Masek (R-Willow) escaped serious injury early in the morning of October 31, 2002, when she braked suddenly to avoid striking a moose that appeared in front of her pickup truck, near mile 75 on the Parks Highway. The truck slid on the slick road and rolled. Masek describes the truck as "totaled." According to Alaska State Troopers, road conditions in the Willow area were considered slick and icy, with wet roads and poor driving conditions. Masek spent most of the night of October 30-31 assisting her parents in Anchorage. Her father, Carl Jerue Sr., 69, of Anvik, was recently diagnosed with a serious illness, and required emergency care. Masek has been assisting him and her mother in their move to Anchorage so he can seek appropriate treatment. Jerue is currently at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. No information about his condition is being released at this time. # # # Attachments:
