(TOK) - Representative Carl Morgan, (R) Aniak, announces the Grand Opening of his new legislative office in Tok. Representative Morgan, and his wife Angie, will host the grand opening on Friday, September 27th from 12:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Representative Morgan, serving his second term, was first elected to office in 1998. Morgan does not face a challenger in the November general election, and will automatically go on to serve his third term in January. "My district is the largest district in the state, I feel it is important to have an office located in the district to provide my constituents with better access to their legislator and the legislative process" said Representative Morgan.

Under the State's new redistricting plan, House District 36 is now House District 6, expanding west along the Alaska Highway to include Deltana, and south along the Richardson Highway including more of the Copper River Basin. "After looking carefully at the expansion of the district, I felt it would be best to place the office in the community of Tok, centrally located on the road system and in the eastern half of my District" said Morgan.

Representative Morgan's office is staffed by Tok resident and long time legislative staff, Sue Stancliff. Sue has lived in Tok for the past nine years and was raised in Glennallen. She first began her legislative experience in Glennallen in 1990, serving as the Legislative Information Officer before working as legislative staff for various House and Senate legislators. Morgan said, "Sue is an excellent choice to work in my office having spent the majority of her life-time in Tok and the Glennallen; she knows the issues that are important to my constituents, has a good understanding of the district, and the experience to do the job."

The Tok office is now open full time and is located next to the NAPA store on the Alaska Highway. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The phone number is 883?2669 and constituents calling long distance may call collect.
