Fiscal Policy Caucus
(Anchorage) - The Fiscal Policy Caucus is pleased to announce the first in a series of 'Town Hall' style meetings to solicit input from the public on the State of Alaska's fiscal future. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 25, 2001 at 6:30pm in the Wilda Marston Theater. "This is a great opportunity for Alaskans to tell us how they think we should solve the fiscal gap" said Representative Andrew Halcro (R-Anchorage). The Fiscal Policy Caucus, a bipartisan group of legislators interested in addressing the financial future of the state, will begin with a 30-minute presentation from the Department of Revenue and the Office of Management and Budget. They will provide a brief synopsis of where the money to fund government comes from and what services we spend it on. At 7pm, the group will begin taking public testimony and asking the people of Alaska for their thoughts on how to solve the fiscal gap. Public testimony will be taken until 10pm, and a time limit may be imposed. The general public is encouraged to attend and share their solutions for the financial future of the state. "The Town Hall style meeting will provide an informal setting in which people can express their thoughts about the financial future of Alaska," said Halcro, "At the end of the day it is going to come down to the sixty Alaskans in the Legislature to solve the fiscal gap, but right now we need the input of all Alaskans".
Future 'Town Hall' meetings: August 21, 2001 and September 19, 2001 at the same location. # # # Attachments:
