Ogan Condition Critical After Heart Attack
(JUNEAU) - Rep. Scott Ogan (R-Palmer) was in critical condition at an Anchorage hospital today after suffering a heart attack at his home in Palmer on Saturday afternoon. Ogan, 49, was in Palmer to accept the Alaska Outdoor Council’s “Legislator of the Year” award when the incident occurred in the early afternoon, according Linda Hay, his legislative chief of staff. He was taken to Valley Hospital in Palmer, and then transported by medical evacuation helicopter to Providence Alaska Medical Center, a Providence spokeswoman said. Ogan is now in Providence’s coronary care unit, where his condition is being monitored continually, and where physicians are assessing the most appropriate course of treatment. His prognosis and expected recovery time are not yet known. His wife, Janet, and their two children have asked well-wishers to offer their prayers on his behalf, but to refrain from calling or sending flowers to his hospital room or their family home. Those wishing to send cards or letters may send them to his legislative office at: Rep. Scott Ogan, State Capitol, Juneau, AK 99801-1182. As the hospital has been inundated with requests from reporters and others seeking the latest information, the hospital staff and Ogan’s legislative office would direct media inquiries to House Majority Press Secretary Dan Saddler at (907) 465-3804. # # # Attachments:
