Rep. Ogan Joins ''Dick Cheney Club''

(ANCHORAGE) - Rep. Scott Ogan (R-Palmer) today announced that he has joined the "Dick Cheney Club," after surgeons implanted a defibrillator/pacemaker in his heart much like the device helping the vice president lead an active life despite his own heart condition.

The implantable cardioverter/defibrillator (ICD) will help monitor and support the regular functions of Ogan's heart. The device, in combination with the placement of two stints, is part of his physicians' response to his heart attack on March 16.

Ogan remained at Providence Alaska Medical Center, where his medical condition was upgraded to fair on Tuesday. He was resting following the procedure, and said he anticipates being discharged soon.
