(JUNEAU) - Speaker of the House Brian Porter (R-Anchorage) today spoke on behalf of the House of Representatives in expressing concern for Rep. Scott Ogan (R-Palmer), who suffered a heart attack in Palmer Saturday.

“I join with all members of the House in expressing our deepest concern for our friend and colleague, Scott Ogan,” said Porter. “We join our thoughts and prayers with those of Scott’s family and many friends, trusting that God will be with him in this time of danger.”

Ogan was in Palmer to accept the Alaska Outdoor Council’s “Legislator of the Year” award when the incident occurred early Saturday afternoon. He was taken to Valley Hospital in Palmer, then to Providence Alaska Medical Center, where he is in critical condition in the coronary care unit.

“We hope for Scott’s complete recovery, and look forward to having him return safely to us as soon as possible,” Porter said.
