On-Line Access Available for Those Seeking to Serve the State
(Kodiak) - Governor Frank Murkowski is currently seeking applications from anyone interested in serving the State of Alaska on a wide variety of boards and commissions dealing with issues ranging from the aerospace industry to education. "Whenever there's a change in the administration there's turnover, and that means new opportunities for local people to get involved in state government," commented Representative Gary Stevens (R, Kodiak), who has already received a number of inquiries regarding jobs within the administration, and appointments to various committees. "By accessing Governor Murkowski's website, members of the public can access the latest information on what positions are available, and how you go about applying for them." The Governor's homepage can be found at http://www.gov.state.ak.us. You can follow the links to get specific information. According to the Murkowski administration, they will respond to all applications in due time. The process may take several months and you may not receive any communication from the Transition office until next year. "Regardless of the issues they cover, the state boards and commissions are vital to the state government process," added Representative Stevens. "I'd really like to see Kodiak better represented on these important groups, I hope you'll consider applying to them. Please don't hesitate to contact me if there's anything I can do to help with your application process." (For more information, please contact Doug Letch in Representative Stevens's office at 486-4925.) # # # Attachments:
