Legislature Extends Board of Accountants
(JUNEAU) - The House passed legislation on Wednesday extending the Board of Public Accountancy. Senate Bill 10, sponsored by Sen. Gene Therriault (R-North Pole), extends the expiration date of the Board of Public Accountancy for four years, to June 30, 2005. The seven-member board oversees the licensing of public accountants and certified public accountants practicing in the state. "A CPA's advice can affect someone's entire economic future, positively or negatively," said Therriault. "Licensing is one way we can ensure people who call themselves CPA's and public accountants meet basic standards for the profession, and help protect consumers from fraudulent or incompetent accounting advice." # # # Attachments:
