JUNEAU -- Rep. Eldon Mulder (R-Anchorage) and Rep. Bill Williams (R-Saxman), co-chairs of the House Finance Committee, today announced their appointments to the House Finance Subcommittees.
"Subcommittees are where a lot of the heavy lifting on the budget gets done," said Mulder. "I am pleased to have an outstanding group of subcommittee chairs and members to help us do the important work of crafting a responsible state budget, and help us meet our responsibility to ensure state money is used to the maximum benefit of the people."
The subcommittee chairs have begun holding hearing with state departments to review the results of the Legislature's past investments in state agencies, and what results they've achieved, Mulder said. The subcommittee recommendations will form the foundation of the budget to be considered by the full committee.
"Through results-based budgeting we can ensure state departments are delivering services efficiently," said Williams. "Subcommittees are the first opportunity for the Legislature to hold departments responsible for accomplishing their missions."
The chairs and members of the subcommittees are listed on the attached chart.
