Represenative Alan Austerman Appointed to ASMI Board

Reappointed to the AADC Board and Pacific Fisheries Task Force

Juneau -- Speaker of the House Brian Porter has announced the final selection for Non-Legislative Committee Appointments. Representative Alan Austerman (R-Kodiak) was named as the House member to the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) Board.

ASMI promotes all species of Alaska seafood worldwide and works to improve seafood quality to enhance profitability and growth for the Alaska seafood industry. "I requested this appointment because of Kodiak's vital seafood industry," stated Representative Austerman. Kodiak harvesters who serve on the ASMI's Board of Directors are Jay Stinson and Ron Jolin. Former Kodiak resident representing the processors is John Sevier. John serves as the board's chair.

House Finance Committee Member Austerman was also reappointed to the Alaska Aerospace Development Corporation (AADC) Board of Directors for a third term. The AADC is a public corporation created in 1992 to develop aerospace related economic and technical opportunities for the State of Alaska. AADC is working with private corporations, government agencies, and universities to develop a comprehensive low earth orbit launch complex and full service satellite ground station facilities.

Rounding out these positions was Alan's reappointment to the Pacific Fisheries Legislative Task Force. Representative Austerman stated, "I'm very excited about the work this group does." The task force is comprised of legislators from some of the Northwest States and Canada working together to discuss common fisheries issues." Representative Austerman went on to explain, "Instead of dealing with problems in a conflict mode, the task force brings principals to the table that handles areas of concern based on a resolution type model."
