Juneau -- Representative Alan Austerman (R-Kodiak) has gladly agreed to help spread the word about this timely and important series. Premiering September 10, 2000 and running for three consecutive nights, a four-part PBS series from a team of award-winning journalists led by Bill and Judith Davidson Moyers will report on the end-of-life issues facing Americans. Based on two years of research, "On Our Own Terms: Moyers on Dying" will reveal the stories of the dying, their families, and their caregivers, and illustrate the growing struggle to balance medical intervention with comfort and humanity. The series is also accompanied by an extensive community action and education campaign. All across the country, people are beginning a national conversation on the awareness of the quality of end-of-life care in their communities and are working to improve it. If you're online, you may go to: www.pbs.org/onourownterms. This website includes a bulletin board, downloadable materials, including a discussion guide that offers thought provoking essays about the issues raised in each program, and a myriad of other information. The series airs September 10-13, 2000 from 9-10:30 pm ET on your local PBS stations. Check your local listings or call your local cable company to find out the appropriate station and time this program will be broadcast. |
