Juneau -- Representative Alan Austerman (R-Kodiak) has been notified by Senator Ted Stevens' office that the communities of Craig, Haines, Kake, and Skagway are included in the latest Senate version of the Energy and Water Appropriations Bill.

Under the Department of Energy, the city of Craig will have $100,000 directed to a feasibility study for its harbor. In Haines the dollar amount will be $200,000 for their harbor study. $7 million dollars has been earmarked to replace and upgrade the Kake dam, which collapsed earlier this summer.

In addition, the city of Kake is labeled to receive $5.508 million for harbor construction. Both of these line items fall under the Corps of Engineers-Construction portion of the budget.

Skagway is due to receive $100,000 for harbor modifications under the Department of Energy.

The bill now goes to a House/Senate conference committee.
