Barnes Elected to National Post

Anchorage -- Anchorage Representative Ramona L. Barnes has been elected by the Council of State Governments-West (CSG-West), currently meeting in Texas, to be its representative to the Executive Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL).

This installs Barnes as the official representative between the two national legislative organizations’ Executive Committees. She will represent the entire Western United States and U.S. Territories at meetings of the NCSL Executive Committee. The prestigious position has a three-year term. Representative Barnes has previously served a 3-year term on the NCSL Executive Committee, chosen by NCSL as a member-at-large.

CSG-West is a membership organization of legislatures from the western United States and U.S. Territories, while the NCSL is a legislative membership organization representing legislatures from each of the 50 states and the U.S. Territories.

The organizations provide information, education, research and consulting services for member state legislatures and staff and offer a lobbying voice in Washington DC for the states.

Several hundred members of the CSG-West met in Anchorage this past September for the organizations annual meeting.
