Bonds to be Offset by FAA Grant Funds Over Ten Years
For Immediate Release: April 27, 1999 Juneau -- The Alaska House of Representatives Tuesday overwhelmingly approved House Bill 84, which authorizes the sale of $25 million in additional revenue bonds for the Anchorage International Airport terminal redevelopment project. The vote was 38-1. "Last year, the Legislature authorized financing for the project, but reduced the amount by $25 million in anticipation of receiving approximately that amount in grant money from the Federal Aviation Administration," said Representative John Cowdery (R-Anchorage), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, which introduced HB 84. "This grant money will be coming over a ten-year period. These bonds will provide the necessary cash and allow the project to be completed according to schedule." HB 84 now moves to the Senate.
