House Legislation Passes on Day 115
For Immediate Release: May 13, 1999
Juneau -- The Alaska House of Representatives Thursday passed the following House legislation:
HB 92: Municipal Taxation of Alcohol
Sponsored by Representative Gary Davis (R-Soldotna), HB 92 would permit
municipalities to impose a sales tax on alcohol without taxing other sales,
after voter approval; it would also permit alcohol to be subject to a sales tax
rate that is independent of that imposed on other sales. HB 92 passed the

HCR 11: Substance Abuse Treatment for Offenders
Sponsored by Representative Fred Dyson (R-Eagle River), HCR 11 encourages that
efforts within the criminal justice system and at the legislative level be spent
on responding to substance abuse with the goal of reducing recidivism. HCR 11
