Treacherous Intersection Receives New Traffic Signal

Senator Dave Donley and Mayor Rick Mystrom to Dedicate Abbot Loop-Abbot Road Stop Light

Anchorage – On Friday, September 25, Senator Dave Donley and Mayor Rick Mystrom join local residents to dedicate the new Abbott Loop/Abbott Road traffic signal. The dedication will take place at the intersection of Abbott Loop Road and Abbott Road at 2 p.m.

Residents of the area requested local and state support for this needed safety improvement. The Abbott Loop/Abbott Road intersection has become extremely treacherous for school children, pedestrians, and vehicles.

This past session Senator Dave Donley, working with Mayor Mystrom, Representative Jerry Sanders, Assembly members Kevin Meyer and George Wuerch, and members of the Abbott Loop Community Council secured the funding to build the signal. This team effort to address this safety hazard obtained the only such state funding for an Anchorage traffic project this year.
