Dyson Elected Children's Caucus Chair

JUNEAU -- Representative Fred Dyson (R-Eagle River/Chugiak) was unanimously elected Chair of the Children's Caucus of the State Legislature, Friday, January 24.

The Children's Caucus, a bi-partisan committee, is a forum used to explore the full range of issues threatening our children including Fetal Alcohol Syndrome/ Effects (FAS/E) and child abuse. The meetings are open to the public and are held at least twice a month. Representative Tom Brice was selected as Vice-Chair.

Representative Dyson and his wife, Jane, have helped raise 15 foster children in addition to three of their own.

"You'll get tired of listening to me talk about abused children during session and in caucus and in this committee," Dyson told the audience upon accepting the gavel, "but my heart is with the kids." He added, "I want to use the Children's Caucus to get kids' problems in front of the people of the state."
