Anchorage -- Thursday, the Republican-led Senate Majority continued the process of determining committee chairmanships, filling the Senate Finance Committee seats, and discussing goals and priorities for the 22nd Legislature. "We had a wide-ranging discussion of issues to be considered in the next legislative session," said Rick Halford (R-Chugiak), incoming Senate President. "We will not be finalizing our specific priorities until we have a chance to meet with the leadership of the House of Representatives." "I expect the transition into the next session to be very smooth," said current Senate President Drue Pearce (R - Anchorage). "This is Senator Halford's second term as Senate President.
