Juneau -- The Alaska House of Representatives Monday passed House Bill 206, sponsored by Representative John Harris (R-Valdez). HB 206 makes mostly technical changes to Alaska Statutes relating to the Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G).
HB 206 makes several changes to current policy:
-
changes "waterfowl" to "migratory game bird";
-
allows disabled veterans and $5 license holders to register in the national migratory bird
harvest program by 1 of 2 methods;
-
creates a new combination 7-day nonresident hunting/fishing license;
-
sets fees for special nonresident military small game license;
-
allows Yukon Territory residents to obtain sport fish licenses and king salmon tags at the
Alaska resident rate (requires reciprocity by the Yukon before taking effect);
-
replaces a requirement to swear oaths when obtaining licenses with a notice regarding
unsworn falsification;
-
authorizes ADF&G to issue replacement licenses to commercial fishing vessel crew members
for a $5 fee.
HB 206 passed the House 28-9. Notice of reconsideration was filed.
