Second NYLCare Hearing

State Affairs Committee Wants to Know how Program is Working

For Immediate Release: February 6, 1998 Contact: Rep. Jeannette James, Chair, State Affairs Committee, at (907) 465-3743.

JUNEAU -- On July 1, 1997, the administration of many state employees' health insurance benefits was transferred to NYLCare from Aetna. Now that NYLCare has been operating the program for seven months, the House State Affairs Committee wants to hear from employees, retirees, providers, and other impacted parties who have dealt with the program to see how well it is functioning.

Committee Chair, Representative Jeannette James, has scheduled a second statewide teleconference hearing on the program for 8AM Tuesday, February 10, 1998, in the House State Affairs Committee Hearing Room, Room 102 of the State Capitol. Representatives from NYLCare will be at the hearing. Persons from outside Juneau who wish to testify can contact their local Legislative Information Offices for more information or Representative James at 465-3743.

The first hearing on NYLCare was held last month.

In Box 5: Representative Jeanette James (R-North Pole) talks about this opportunity for people who have had dealings with the new provider to relate their experiences to the State Affairs Committee.
