Legislature Announces Members of Deferred Maintenance Panel

JUNEAU - House Speaker Gail Phillips and Senate President Mike Miller Thursday announced members of the legislative task force to evaluate Alaska's deferred maintenance needs.

House Concurrent Resolution 8, sponsored by House Speaker Gail Phillips, created a task force to determine the extent of Alaska's infrastructure and public facility maintenance needs and establish options for possible funding. The Senate passed the resolution Wednesday.

The members will be:

Representative Jeannette James	Senator Loren Leman
Representative Richard Foster	Senator Robin Taylor
Representative Beverly Masek	Senator Tim Kelly
House Minority Member	Senator Georgianna Lincoln
Speaker Gail Phillips (non-voting)	President Mike Miller (non-voting)

Speaker Phillips said members will begin work addressing Alaska's maintenance needs immediately.

The Task Force is charged with:

reviewing and evaluating existing reports and publications about deferred maintenance recommendations previously made.
identifying and evaluating all current and deferred maintenance needs.
soliciting public comment about this topic.
submitting a report of its findings and recommendations to the Governor and Legislature by the convening of the second regular session.
forwarding recommendations about funding all deferred maintenance needs.
