Juneau -- (Juneau) Representative Lisa Murkowski (R-District 14) took over as the House Co-Chair of the Anchorage Caucus this week. The caucus is a bipartisan organization of members of the State House and Senate from the Anchorage area. Murkowski replaces Representative Andrew Halcro (R) whose term as co-chair expired on January 10th. Senator Dave Donley will continue as the Senate Co-Chair. "I was honored to be chosen by my colleagues last year to be the House Co-Chair for the second session," said Murkowski. "It will be a challenge to coordinate the legislative agenda for the 2000 legislative session." "The Anchorage Caucus accomplished a lot of important work last year," said Halcro. "I am confident Representative Murkowski will continue the spirit of bipartisanship and cooperation in working for the people of Anchorage." Co-Chair Senator Dave Donley joined in congratulating Murkowski on her new position. "Representative Murkowski has the experience and energy to lead the Caucus. I look forward to working with her this session." The Anchorage Caucus has scheduled its first Anchorage meeting this year for Saturday, February 12th in Anchorage at the Anchorage Assembly Chambers at the Loussac Library. |
