Permits Authorization for Limited Liability Companies and Partnerships
For Immediate Release: Feburary 9, 2000 Juneau -- The Alaska House of Representatives Wednesday passed HB 130, sponsored by the House Labor and Commerce Committee HB 130 adds Limited Liability Companies (LLC) and Limited Liability Partnerships (LLP) to the business entities that can be registered and receive a license to practice architecture, engineering, land surveying, and landscape architecture. "The Legislature, over the past several years, has authorized Limited Liability Companies and Partnerships as business forms in the state, but the Department of Law has advised that these entities are not covered under current licensing laws governing the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors (AELS)," said Representative Lisa Murkowski (R-Anchorage), a member of the House Labor and Commerce Committee, who carried the bill. "This bill would simply permit the Board to register these entities in a similar manner as corporations, with continued provisions for consumer protection and licensee accountability." HB 130 also makes technical changes to statutes affecting the AELS Board. HB 130 passed the House unanimously and now moves to the Senate for consideration. |
