Authorizes Limited Liability Organizations as Business Entities
For Immediate Release: April 14, 2000 Juneau -- The Alaska Senate Friday passed House Bill 130, sponsored by the House Labor and Commerce Committee. HB 130 adds Limited Liability Companies (LLC) and Limited Liability Partnerships (LLP) to the business entities that can be registered and receive a license to practice architecture, engineering, land surveying, and landscape architecture. "The Legislature has already authorized Limited Liability Companies and Partnerships as business forms in the state, but the Department of Law has advised that these entities are not covered under current licensing laws governing the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors (AELS)," said House Labor and Commerce Committee member, Representative Lisa Murkowski (R-Anchorage). "This bill permits the Board to register these entities in a manner similar to corporations, with continued provisions for consumer protection and licensee accountability." HB 130 also makes technical changes to statutes affecting the AELS Board. HB 130 passed the Senate unanimously. Sponsor Statement for HB 130 |
