Phillips Applauds Promotion of ARCO Alaska Executive Ken Thompson

Major Corporate Decisions to be Coming from Alaska

Juneau -- House Speaker Gail Phillips (R-Homer) Tuesday applauded the promotion of ARCO Alaska, Inc. President Ken Thompson to Executive Vice President of parent company ARCO.

"Of course, our congratulations go out to Ken and to his family," said Phillips. "But this news is also good news for Alaska. Ken will be responsible for all of ARCO's operations in California, Alaska, and the entire Pacific Rim, which means that, for the first time, an Alaskan will be making the decisions."

In addition to his new duties Thompson will be Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ARCO Alaska, Inc. Kevin O. Meyers, currently Senior Vice President, will become President and Chief Operating Officer of that wholly owned entity.

"I'm delighted that two such outstanding individuals are moving up the corporate ladder. And it's just great to see that decision-making power for a major corporation is being centered in Alaska," Phillips said.
