Proposed Budget Good for District 7

Important Water & Sewer and Road Projects Funded

HOMER -- Speaker of the Alaska House Gail Phillips (R-Homer) reacted positively today to Governor Knowles' inclusion of over $13 million in badly needed projects for District 7 residents in his proposed Fiscal Year 2000 Capital Budget.

"We have been working long and hard with the Administration to fund these projects and I am gratified that all this hard work is getting ready to pay-off for District 7," said Phillips. "I'm especially pleased that, after years of effort, we are finally going to see the Homer East End Road rehabilitation become a reality," Phillips said.

In addition to the East End Road project, the Capital Budget includes funding for upgrading the Sterling Highway in Sterling and for snow removal equipment for Port Graham. Other highlights include water and sewer projects in Voznesenka, Anchor Point, Port Graham, and Nanwalek, and an upgrade for the Homer East Trunk/Beluga Lift Station.
