Phillips Applauds Appointment

of Ed Dersham to State Board of Fish

Washington D.C. - House Speaker Gail Phillips (R-Homer) Monday announced her support for Governor Tony Knowles appointment of Ed Dersham of Anchor Point to the State Board of Fish.

"There were many qualified applicants to fill the vacancy on the Board and I appreciate the Governor carefully considering Mr. Dersham's qualifications," said Speaker Phillips.

"Dersham has many years of experience in the fishing industry on the Kenai Peninsula as both a sport fisher and a guide. He will be a great addition to the Board," said Phillips.

"I have known Ed for many years and am very familiar with his qualifications," said Phillips. "He has the ability to work with both sides on any issue. I am confident he will turn out to be a great asset to the Board."

Speaker Phillips is in Washington, D.C. attending the annual conference of the Energy Council.
