House-Senate Conferees to Consider Supplemental Differences

Juneau -- Speaker of the House Brian Porter (R-Anchorage) Monday appointed Representative Eldon Mulder (R-Anchorage), Representative Gene Therriault (R-Fairbanks), and Representative Ben Grussendorf (D-Sitka) to a Conference Committee on the Supplemental Budget.
The House conferees will meet with three conferees appointed from the Senate to consider the differing versions of the Supplemental Budget passed by each body. The Conference Committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday morning, March 16.
A Conference Committee, made up of an identical number of Representatives and Senators, is appointed by the Speaker of the House and the Senate President when the two bodies have passed different versions of the same legislation. The goal of the Conference Committee is to attempt to reach an agreement that is acceptable to both bodies.
