Speaker Brian Porter
Names New Press Secretary
Dan Saddler Replaces Jerry Ritter in Communications Job

For Immediate Release: November 3, 2000
Contact: Dan Saddler at (907) 269-0167.

Anchorage -- Rep. Brian Porter (R-Anchorage) announced today he has selected long-time legislative staffer Dan Saddler as the new press secretary for the Republican-Led House Majority.

Saddler has five years' experience as a legislative staffer, most recently working for Senate Finance Co-Chair Sean Parnell. A 13-year Alaskan, Saddler worked as a reporter at the Anchorage Times and copy editor at the Anchorage Daily News, and has also worked in public relations for some of Alaska's largest corporations. He has bachelor's and master's degrees in journalism.

"Dan will be a solid addition to the Majority's communications team," Porter said. "He has been around the Legislature long enough to know how it functions, and been a professional communicator in Alaska long enough to convey the facts clearly to Alaskans."

In addition to serving as the point of contact for statewide media inquiries to Porter, Saddler will deliver press releases, radio actualities, newsletters and other communications materials to statewide media outlets for the Majority caucus, and will assist individual members of the Majority in their communications efforts.

Saddler replaces Jerry Ritter, who stepped down as press secretary in July to move with his family to Washington D.C.
