Senate Judiciary Committee Schedules Third Hearing on Subsistence

Juneau -- A third hearing has been scheduled before the Senate Judiciary Committee for Monday, May 4th to consider HB 406, a bill regarding subsistence.

"Legislative committees have heard from 550 Alaskans on this issue during hearings and we are working on a consensus position to take to the federal government," said committee chairman Senator Robin Taylor.

Taylor said he and other lawmakers are seeking an Alaskan solution to the subsistence issue, a unified stand that can be presented to Alaska’s congressional delegation and the Clinton Administration.

Monday's hearing begins at 1:30 in the Beltz room on the second floor of the Capitol.
