Senate Judiciary Committee Schedules Subsistence Hearing

Juneau -- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold the second public hearing on HB 406, the subsistence issue, on Friday, May first.

"The Alaskan people want to control their own destiny on this issue," said Judiciary Committee Chairman Senator Robin Taylor. "We need a focused, final effort, a solution the people of Minto, Ketchikan and Anchorage all can live with. A solution that Alaskans can get behind. One that gives us some clout in Washington D.C".

The House last week passed HB 406, and the measure was referred to the Judiciary and Resources committees in the Senate. Taylor held the first Judiciary Committee hearing on the issue in Fairbanks last weekend. Friday's hearing will be at 1:30 P.M. in the Beltz room.
