Measure Could Save $500,000 Annually

Juneau -- The Alaska House of Representatives Tuesday passed House Bill 189, which authorizes the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) to purchase the office building it currently occupies at 4300 Boniface Parkway in Anchorage.
HB 189 provides the AHFC with the authorization to consummate the sale at the agreed upon purchase price of $6,650,000. Sponsored by the House Finance Committee, HB 189 would achieve budget savings by eliminating the need for lease expenses in AHFC's operating budget. AHFC estimates an approximate saving of $500,000 a year.
HB 189 passed 35-1 and now moves to the Senate.
