Juneau -- The Alaska Senate Tuesday passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 12, sponsored by Senator Jerry Ward (R-Anchorage/Kenai). SCR 12 designates March, 2000 as Sobriety Awareness Month.
"Alcohol and drug abuse has been identified as the single most destructive health problem in Alaska," said Ward. "All Alaskans, regardless of ethnic, economic or regional background, have felt the devastating effects of substance abuse.
"SCR 12 reinforces the commitment Alaskans make to a clean and healthy lifestyle," added Ward.
SCR 12 now goes to the House for consideration.
