May 19, 2000 HB 133 Vetoed by Governor Knowles Dear District 18 Resident: I was informed today that Governor Knowles has vetoed HB 133, "An Act relating to municipal service areas, and providing for voter approval of the formation, alteration, or abolishment of certain service areas". According to information that I have received, Governor Knowles vetoed HB 133 in compliance with the request of the Municipality of Anchorage. I am very disappointed in the Governor's action. It is my intention to pursue a veto override vote, should the Legislature be called into special session before January. Unfortunately, the veto override cannot be taken up in the next Legislative term -- the Constitution does not allow that. That being the case, we want the Governor and the Municipality to know that this was little more than a delaying action on their part. I strongly recommend that similar legislation be introduced next Legislative term. Sincerely, PRIVACY POLICY: All addresses are "blind" for your privacy. A strict "no spam" policy is observed.
