August 3, 2000 142nd Street Closure and House Transportation Hearing on Driving While Under the Influence Dear District 18 Resident: Today at 1:00, at the Anchorage Legislative Information Office on 4th Avenue, there will be a House Transportation Committee Oversight Hearing to discuss additional ways the Legislature could reduce drunk driving in Alaska. If you are unable to be there or call in with any suggestions or questions that you may have, please send your comments to me and I'll forward them to the committee. Recently, there has been a spreading rumor about a plan by the State of Alaska to close 142nd Street to through traffic. I have thoroughly researched this rumor with the State Department of Transportation and the Municipality. 142nd Street is a municipal road and the State DoT has no role in making a decision to close it. At this time, the Municipality of Anchorage has no plan to close 142nd Street to traffic. If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact Mr. Ron Pile, Municipal Traffic Engineer, at 243-8410. Safe driving! PRIVACY POLICY: All addresses are "blind" for your privacy. A strict "no spam" policy is observed. If you don't wish to receive "Legislative Update", just let me know.
