Hillside & East Anchorage Roads Meetings

Dear District 18 Residents:

Many of you have contacted me over the summer to ask questions and make suggestions about Hillside and Anchorage roads. So I thought you might be interested in two meetings that are coming up -- next Tuesday and Wednesday -- that will give you the opportunity to find out more about when your route to work or school will be improved and to make suggestions to the Department of Transportation. I hope that you will be able to attend to gain information and express your opinions. If you can't attend, please contact the project managers listed below. They will be happy to answer your questions and take your input. You can keep up with changes and schedules at http://www.hillsideroads.com too!

East Anchorage Transportation Facilities
Concept Report Panel Discussion & Open House

Date: Tuesday, September 5, 2000
Time: 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Facilitated Panel Discussion)
8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Open House)
Where: Loussac Library - Assembly Chambers

Who: Transportation professionals, representatives from natural resource-related governmental agencies, and you.

Topics:

  1. East Anchorage Transportation Facilities Concept Report (FCR) study Project public involvement and methods to engage the community, The types of alternatives that would improve mobility, Transportation mobility problems, Community interests and concerns related to transportation, and The FCR study boundary.
  2. Alternatives to improve mobility and relieve congestion at: Tudor & Lake Otis, Tudor & Boniface, and E. Northern Lights & Lake Otis.
  3. New road construction alternatives for: Abbott Loop Road: Abbott Road to Tudor (Bragaw Extension) Dowling Road: Lake Otis to Abbott Loop Road.

Hillside Roads Open House Meeting

Date: Wednesday, September 6, 2000
Time: 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (presentation at 7:00 p.m.)

Topics: Construction Projects

Abbott Road: Lake Otis Parkway to Birch Road
O'Malley Road: New Seward Highway to Hillside Drive
Huffman Road: Old Seward Highway to Lake Otis Parkway

The 7:00 p.m. presentation will provide an overview of all three projects. But you can stop by any time during the meeting hours to view project materials and talk to project staff.
