"Legislative Update" November 3, 2000
Anchorage Zoning Meetings
Dear District 18 Residents:
I received the following message from the Federation of Community Councils, who asked the recipients to forward it on to anyone who might be interested. As this meeting will provide very good information, both specific and general, about effective participation in local decision making, I'm certainly glad to do so.
Have a great weekend!

Brown Bag Lunch series starts Monday November 13
With development going on all around the Anchorage bowl private citizens, community councils and interest groups are anxious to know more about the law, Title 21, that governs Anchorage zoning decisions.
Join us Monday November 13th for an hour at noon, at City Hall 632 W. 6th Avenue, Room 160 for a round table discussion of zoning issues that affect neighborhoods.
The topic for this first gathering will be the rezone of the land near 42nd & Lake Otis for a 5-story office building and parking lot. Neighbors are concerned about buffering for surrounding wetlands, noise, runoff, lights, screening. We will learn what current ordinances allow, prohibit or may be vague on. Learn how to make more effective testimony at public meetings.
Bring a brown bag lunch.
For more information contact Anchorage Assembly member Doug Van Etten, 273-7742 or vanetten@alaska.net.
