Bill text is posted as soon as it
is available in electronic format. Legislative Affairs Agency's
new "Web BASIS" bill database is quite fast and updates are usually
on-line in minutes. However, if technical difficulties are
experienced, the web based system could lag significantly behind
legislative actions. If you need information on a more timely
basis the best course of action is to contact the office of the bill
sponsor and the office of the committee hearing the bill. Your
closest Legislative Information Office can help you
locate the appropriate contacts.
Web BASIS is an extensive and comprehensive database
of bills and legislative actions that is updated within mere
minutes of the action happening. You can locate your topic of interest
by sponsor name, committee, bill number, and topic.
Bill Action and Status Inquiry System
This database contains bill status,
history, and general information for the current Alaska State Legislature and as far back as the 15th Legislature, and for some information this database will retieve from as far as the 13th Legislature. This database is updated every 10 minutes during the current Legislative session.
"Folio" is the Legislatures
database of past legislative information. You can locate your topic of
interest by sponsor name, committee, bill number, topic, or word search.
This web site links into this information using standard html links.
Folio is similar in nature to a typical web browser, but the command set
is somewhat different and can be confusing for the first time user.
Links in What's New, Majority Members, or Press
Releases will usually take you directly to the full text of a
bill. However, you may need to scroll down the page to locate the
latest bill version. For easy reference, bill text will usually
include links to pertinent Alaska Statute that you may easily
jump to. If a bill is lengthy scrolling down to find the latest
version can be too slow. You can use the text search engine
within Folio to locate specific bill versions. Click here to
access Folio's own help pages.
