  2. LEGISLATIVE NEWS:

    • The House Finance Committee is completing work on the operating budget for FY 2005. It is anticipated that the full House will considered the budget document beginning Monday, April 5th.

Again, if you desire a good source for in-depth information on the state's budget process, check out the ISER site at http://www.iser.uaa.alaska.edu and select "Citizens Guide to the Budget" from the Special Programs Section.

    • Early in March, the House passed legislation calling for an increase in education funding. Under the House's proposal, the K-12 foundation formula would be increased additional $84.5 million in funds this fiscal year. The University of Alaska would receive an additional $15.8 million. The legislation containing these funds is currently before the Senate for consideration.

The House also proposed increasing the per student foundation formula by $419. That proposal is also before the Senate for consideration.

  3. Best regards,

    Rep.

    Norman Rokeberg
