The House Finance Committee is completing work on the operating budget for FY 2005. It is anticipated that the
full House will considered the budget document beginning Monday, April 5th.

Early in March, the House passed legislation calling for an increase in education funding. Under the House's proposal,
the K-12 foundation formula would be increased additional $84.5 million in funds this fiscal year. The University of Alaska
would receive an additional $15.8 million. The legislation containing these funds is currently before the Senate for
consideration.
The House also proposed increasing the per student foundation formula by $419. That proposal is also before the
Senate for consideration.
